巴金在自己的随想录中说过.“人不是点缀太平的.而是工作的，正因为有了荆棘，才需要我们在荆棘中开辟道路。”一个人来到世界上，平平坦坦过完一生是毫无意义的。要建立自己的天地，让成为主宰自己的主人。这一切都不可以空想，要靠实际行动、勇气、智慧、毅力才能实现。可是这条路不好走。放眼望去它若隐若现，只有一条荆棘丛生、弯弯曲曲、坑坑洼洼的小路。为了自己的目标，为了磨练自己的意志，我们必须果断的选择这条路。

从我们降生到世上那一刻起，注定要经历一翻彻骨寒。有人要逃避磨难，导致被小小的寒气所封杀。我走在这条路上，永不后悔。我赤着双脚.用双手扒着荆棘，荆棘的锋芒和我的肌肤一次次零距离接触，伤痛让我一次次动摇决心，但我固守阵地，决不动摇!强忍伤痛依然义无反顾的朝目的地前进。

虽说伤痛时常让我疼痛难忍。我却从中总结了不少经验，伤痕弥合留下了不少疤痕，每一个伤疤都是一次挫折，都是一次经验的积累，都是一次成长的标志，所以我不悲伤，坚定的走下去。只有在这样的道路上我才能充分挖掘自己的潜能。荆棘并不可怕，可怕的是没有信心、没有勇气走下去，半途而废。没有荆棘的道路，有挑战性;没有挑战的人生，没有意义;没有意义的人生，生不如死!荆棘的道路上成就有勇气、有自信、有智慧、有梦想的人!荆棘的道路上锤炼了人的意志，荆棘的道路上打磨了人的梦想。走在荆棘的道路上，用古人仁的经验告诫世人，成功的人必须有成功的路，成功路上必定坎坎坷坷、荆棘丛生，荆棘丛生必定能苦其心志。只要我们有坚定的信心和勇气，荆棘便不会阻碍我们通向成功。相反，荆棘是我们成功的垫脚石，磨难使我们越挫越勇。在荆棘丛中开辟道路!我要在荆棘中开辟道路!

facing this audience on the stage, i have the exciting feeling of participating in the march of history, for what we are facing today is more than a mere competition or contest. it is an assembly of some of china's most talented and motivated people, representatives of a younger generation that are preparing themselves for the coming of a new century.

i'm grateful that i've been given this opportunity, at such a historic moment, to stand here as a spokesman of my generation and to take a serious look back at the past 15 years, a crucial period for every one of us and for this nation as well.

though it is only within my power to tell about my personal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it at that, it still represents, i believe, the root of a spirit which has been essential to me and to all the people bred by the past 15 years.

in my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard but somehow could never do satisfactorily in her lessons.

the teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy, restless, thoughtless, i always tried to evade her so as to get more time to enjoy myself. one day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, "could you please explain this to mei want very much to do better this time. " i started explaining, and finished in a hurry.

pretending not to notice her still confused eyes, i ran off quickly. nat surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. and two months later, at the beginning of the new semester, word came of her death of blood cancer. no one ever knew about the little task i failed to fulfill, but i couldn't forgive myself. i simply couldn't forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, "why didn't you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for youwhy didn't you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that i would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret"

i was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for i began to understand the word "responsibility" and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.

later in my life, i continued to experience many failures. but never again did i feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that i have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best i can.

as i grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, i began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. new buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.

new ideas, new information, new technologies. people can talk with each other from any corner of the earth in a matter of seconds. society is becoming more competitive.

words like individuality and creativity are getting more emphasis and more people are rewarded for their hard work and efforts. such is the era in which this generation ,grows and matures.

such is the era in which this generation will take over the nation from our fathers and learn to run it. yet in the meantime, many problems still exist.

we learn that crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of people looking on and not assisting. we hear that there are still about 1 million children in this country who can't even afford to go to elementary schools while enormous sums of money are being squandered away on dinner parties and luxury cars.

we buy shoddy medicines, or merely worthless junk in the name of medicines, that aggravate, rather than alleviate our diseases since money, many people believe, is the most important thing in the world that must be made, even at the expense of morality and responsibility.

such an era, therefore, determines that we are a generation with a keener sense of competition and efficiency and a greater readiness to think critically and act creatively.

such an era, furthermore, demands, that we are a generation with a clear perception of our historical responsibility and an aggressive will to take action and solve the problems. history has long been preparing these qualities in this generation and it is now calling us forward to give testimony to our patriotism and heroism towards this nation and all humanity.

standing here now, i think of the past 15 years of my life as an ordinary student. probably i'll be an ordinary man for the rest of my life. but this doesn't discourage me any, for i know that with my sense of responsibility and devoted efforts to always strive, for the best, it's going to be a meaningful and worthwhile life that i will be living.

standing here now, i think of the past 15 years of this nation, which has achieved greatness that inspired millions of people of my age, most of whom will not attain fame or prestige and only a few of whom will be remembered by posterity. but that doesn't discourage us any, because we

know that the world watches, the world listens, the world is waiting to see where this nation will be heading in a time of rich opportunities and fierce competition.

i can't ever forget that little girl in my class who couldn't had the same opportunities as any of us here to enjoy a wonderful life today and a hopeful world tomorrow.

it is the sacred responsibility of this generation to face up to the challenges of the new century and to devote our sweat and blood, our wisdom and passion, to the historic cause of making this nation a greater and happier land for every one of us.

we are not going to evade that responsibility. we are going to let people down. and people, far and near, will hear of us. frost will be brought to their backbones and tears to their eyes when our stories are told and retold, so let us go forth, my fellow members of this luckily chosen generation, and meet the new century in victory and glory.

站在台上面对大家，我心情十分激动。好像是在参加一次历史性的长征。我们今天面对的远不只一场竞赛或角逐。这是才华出众，生气勃勃的中国青年的一次聚会。我们是青年一代的代表。为迎接新世纪的到来，我们正在从各方面作好准备。

在这一历史时刻，能有机会代表同龄人在此认真地回顾于国于己都至关重要的过去的15年，我感激万分。

尽管只能谈谈个人经历，而且只涉及其中一个小小的片段，但我相信，它仍然折射出对我和在过去15年间一同成长起来的青年人都不可缺少的一种思想基础。

我上小学时，班上有位小姑娘，学习非常刻苦而成绩却不尽人意。

老师要我帮助她。看得出，她也寄厚望于我。但我那时还是个小男孩，坐不住，不懂事。我老是me避她。以便有更多时间自己玩。

期末考试前一天，她来求我说“请你给我讲解一下行吗这次我很想考得好一点。”我开始给她讲解，不一会儿便草草收场，假装没有察觉她迷茫的眼神，一溜烟儿地跑开了。不出所料，这次她又考砸了。两个月后，新学期依始，传来她死于血癌的消息。我没有完成那项小小的任务，无人知晓。但我却不能原谅自己。她的眼睛令我难以忘怀，仿佛在责问我，“你为什么不愿多帮助我呢这对于你来说，并不费事。你为什么不能理解我对你的信赖，而让我带着痛苦和遗憾离开这个世界”

我当时才八九岁。但从某种意义上讲，这件事成了我生活的新起点。因为我开始体会到“责任”二字的意义，并尽心尽力地学着完成自己的义务。我也逐渐领会了这个神圣字眼的深刻内含:人与人之间的彼此需要和信任、合作和依赖正是人类社会存在的基础。

之后，我在生活中又经受过多次失败，但那小姑娘之死所引起的懊悔，心里却不曾再现。想到自己做每一件事都能尽职尽责，一种满足之感便油然而生。

此事及类似的多起事件改变了我，完善了我。当我长大成人，我开始领悟周围发生的一切变化。我发现，从某种意义上说，社会跟我一样，正处在一个自我完善的时期。新建筑、新商品、新款式一天一个样。新思维、新信息、新技术层出不穷。即便万里相隔，人们在转瞬之间即可相互交谈。社会竞争越演越烈。

人们越来越强调个性和创造性。越来越多的人因工作努力而受到奖赏。这就是当今的时代，一代新人由成长迈入成熟的时代。这是我们这一代人接替父辈治国安邦的时代。然而，我们也面临很多间题。

据悉，坏人在光天化日之下作恶，周围的群众居然袖手旁观，无动于衷。我还听说，目前我国尚有100万儿童连小学也上不起，而巨额资金却拿去举办奢侈的宴会和购置豪华的轿车。

我们常常买的是劣质药品，或名曰药品实为一文不值的废物，非但不能除病去痛，反而会使

病情加重。在某些人看来，世上金钱最宝贵，只要能赚钱，不惜牺牲道德和责任。

因而，这个时代赋予我们的是更强烈的竞争和效率意识，使我们更善于批判性地思考和创造性地行动。

此外，这个时代要求我们这一代人必须认清自己肩负的历史重任，下定决心，采取行动，解决上述问题。长期以来，历史一直在我们这一代人身上培养着这些品质。现在，历史呼唤我们挺身而出，以实际行动向全民族及全人类证实我们的拳拳爱国之心和大无畏的英雄主义。

此刻，我站在讲台上回顾15年来的学生生活。今后的岁月，我很可能平平淡淡地度过。但这丝毫不会让我心灰意冷。因为我知道，凭借强烈的责任感和精益求精的不懈奋斗，我将追求一种有意义的生活，一种不枉此生的生活。

此刻，我站在讲台上回顾过去，15年来祖国取得的巨大成就激励着千千万万的同龄人。我们之中大多数人将与名利和权力无缘。只有极少数人或许会后世留芳。对此我们丝毫也不会在意。因为我们知道，世界在观望，世界在倾听。在这个大量机遇和激烈竟争并存的时代，我们国家究竟去向何方，整个世界都在关注。

我永远不会忘记班上那位小姑娘。她本应该却没能和在座各位一样享受今天美好的人生和明日充满希望的世界。

knowing the consequences of choice

over the past spring festival, i got involved in a family dispute. right before i got home, four satellite channels of cctv were added to the 14 channels we had already had. in prime time at night, they all had interesting shows. therefore, the five of us-my parents, my sisters and i-had to argue over what to watch. finally, we agreed that we should watch the "most interesting" programme... if we

could agree what that was.

however, all of us there remember that for a long time after we had tv, there were only one or two channels available. the increase in options reveals an important change in our life: the abundance of choice.

fifteen years ago we all dressed in one style and in one colour. today, we select from a wide variety of designs and shades.

fifteen years ago, we read few newspapers. today, we read english newspapers like the china daily and the 21st century, as well as various chinese newspapers.

fifteen years ago, english majors took only courses in language and literature. today, we also study western culture, journalism, business communications, international relations, and computer science.

the emergence of choices marks the beginning of a new era in china's history; an era of diversity, of material and cultural richness, and an era of the rebirth of the chinese nation.

一个灼热的午后，教师的声音仍在我耳边回响：“要参加大学生英语潜力竞赛的同学明天来报名。这是一个含金量很高的比赛，你们不要错过这个机会。”可能对以前没有目标的我来说，我是绝对不会参加的。可是如今状况并不相同，更何况“含金量高”这个词具有如此之大的诱惑力……最终，我不再纠结，真的去报了名。

拿到复习材料的那一刻，我甚至有些后悔，这么厚的一叠，能在比赛之前看完吗?可是为了自我的梦想，这点困难算什么呢?我又充满了自信。从那一天开始，我一页一页地翻着，一句一句地读着，笔记以及红笔划出的关键句密密麻麻地写满了整本书。再加上自我安排自我进行定期的默写、背诵，我似乎从来没有对自我如此严苛过。

有时也会产生放弃的想法，但又很快地被打消，因为我明白仅有真正放弃的时候，可能性才会为零。而我并不想让自我的可能性为零，所以，我决不放弃!不知何时开始，我的桌上已经贴满了写着励志话语的便条签，时时激励着我继续前进。尽管遍布荆棘，但我们能够自我开辟一条道路。最终，我把这本复习材料都读完了。

走入考场的那一刻，我还在复习着自我背过的、默过的东西，竟这样成功地把紧张抛在了脑后。镇定地答完每一题，交卷，一切都如此顺利。之后就陷入了漫长的等待，我满怀信心，等待的时间越漫长，等到结果的那一刻就越幸福。最终，我得知，我成功了。

我在成功的兴奋之后，发现了一些不一样，我并未在为得到的成功兴奋，而是在为自我离梦想靠近一步而无比欢乐。这条追梦之路仍很漫长，但我不会放弃，我会坚定地为之奋斗，并勇敢地一路走下去，明白梦想实现的那一刻。

记得一来到大学的时候，我们好多同学都无法接受这个现实。有一些同学要求退学，有一些同学回去复读了，更有有一些同学打电话到电视台去投诉。经过一番的折腾，我选择了留下来。开第一次班会的时候，我的班主任邓小丹老师对我们说：“来到这样的一所大学，我们只能改变一切可以改变的，接受一切不可以改变的。”

所以，我有一个梦想。梦想可以拥有一双翅膀，飞离喧闹的天空，飞离被工业污染的天空，飞离这个凡尘俗世，寻找蓝天白云，寻找和平发展，友好相处的天空，寻找一份真真正正属于我的天空。

十年冷窗苦读，我们怀着冲动的心境跨进了大学的校门。在那里，我们吸纳着前人的智慧精华，接收着人文道德的洗礼。我们是幸福的，是荣幸的。由于我们是大学生，我们有毅力畅游知识的海洋、有韧性攀缘科学的顶峰，更有理性穿梭于多彩的世界。

人们给了我们光彩的称号，给了我们这么多荣幸的光环，更给了我们衷心回报社会、家庭的神圣的职责。这就是我们大学生应有的良知。在这知识的殿堂里，我们是否做天了与知己为伴，让灵魂得到高尚、让人格得到高贵、让人生得天升华呢!有的人做到了，时刻让良知牵引自己前行，尽力为以后的人生展垫着牢固的基石。然而，令我们可悲的是，在这通往光亮与光辉的路上，有人却轻易地抛掉了良知，让昏暗遮蔽了自己。

这个以前的乖孩子、昔日的优等生，但谁也无法想到，他竟然会亲手杀逝世自己的同学的四位同窗。四个不瞑的灵魂走了，留给我们的却是深深地思索。作为一个大学生，本应当保卫自己的这片良知净土，用心乐观，克服心理作遂。但惋惜的是他泯灭了这一切，让自己同罪行的凶犯站在同一平台上，终极让邪恶毁掉了自己。他是可悲的，由于他没能让大学生的良知在自己的心中根深蒂固，因而造成了这天这无法挽回的杯具。

还有一个不知该为他的不幸而哭，还是该为他的幼稚而笑的咸阳大一男生，由于在情人节送花给敬慕的女生遭到谢绝，他竟以选取跳楼而停止了自己和性命。他死了，人们给他的只是同情，同情他的年少、同情他的无知。作为大学生，没有大学生处置问题的沉着，更没有大学生应有的广阔胸怀，这真的是作为大学生的悲痛。

更有一个令人难以置信的法律专业的大学生，为了替父还债，竟然绑架了邻居小孩，勒索20万元现金。被逮捕后，却以没想过伤害人质为由，请求广大处置。真令人痛心，这种痛是为她如此单薄的法律意识的痛;为她就这样轻易葬送自己美妙前途的痛;更为她作为大学生，却摈弃了大学生良知的痛。

等等的事件，在我们四周产生，带给我们的是震惊、是思索。我们心中自问：是什么使我们当中的他们产生了质的变更是自卑、是脆弱、是无知，我这就是答复。

应对生涯的挫折与打击，他们没能凭毅力与智慧克服，因愚蠢而失败;应对生活的陷井他们没能悬崖勒马，因盲目而坠进其中，故事。一切罪行地产生都是错的，看似生涯的错，听似别人的错，但我以为更应当批评的是作为大学生，却摈弃大学生知己的他们。我们是大学生，我们真挚、乐观、自负、礼貌，我们对生涯充斥热忱，心灵，对人生满怀信念。这就是我们的实质，这就是我们的知己。他们摈弃了这些，这是他们的悲痛，但我们不要。我们理解生的好处，我们铭刻人生的哲理——把有限的性命投进到无穷的为人类谋幸福之中，在性命逝往时，让精力之光照射万代，让人类之火熊熊燃烧。

大家好！我是xx号，我演讲的主题是“青春易逝，我们要懂得珍惜”。

就像人离不开自己的影子一样，成功也总离不开失败，尽管人们千方百计地摆脱，然而失败依然困扰着每一个人。或许是生意场上的失利，或许是仕途上的阻挠，或许是运动场上的落后，然而对于我们来说，失败只是迟到的成功。

如今，求学的压力，生活的压力越来越大。但在这紧张的氛围下，你不妨静静地闭上眼、仰起脸，感受天空中洒下的阳光，让它渗透你的每一寸肌肤，你会发现，有一股炽热的血液在体内沸腾，有一种似火的*在痛快地燃烧，有一种如阳光一般的暖流将受伤的心灵抚慰！而这，就是你拥有的炫丽的青春啊！它轻轻而又响亮地告诉你：年轻没有失败！

拿破仑说：光荣的成功不在于永不失败，而在于屡仆屡起，于是便有叱咤风云的法兰西第一帝国。贝多芬说：卓越的人的优点是在不利与艰难的遭遇里百折不挠，于是便有了享誉全球的音乐大师。失败是一笔财富，它能给人奋发向上的动力，给人直面挫折的勇气，给人饱经风霜的坚强。而年轻时的失败更是一笔财富，不经百炼，何以成钢？斗争的生活使你干练，苦闷的煎熬使你醇化，失败为你铺就一条走向成熟走向成功的大道

不要为失败而气恼，失败对我们来说只是成功与成功之间的过渡。请相信，当你长途跋涉之后，当你艰辛攀登之后，当你已经精疲力竭之时，成功就在前面迎接你、振奋你，让你再一次投入到事业的博击中去；请相信，我们是东方那一轮火红的朝阳，我们终将穿透云层，辉煌地升起，发出光芒万丈！

青春易逝，我们踱着脚漫步在生活的诗行里，成功与失败互相交替，成为一幕幕插曲。

人生的患得患失、大起大落，只不过是上亿年地球史中的沧海一粟。

失败何所惧！

一个故事总要留点遗憾方显完美；一种结局总要有点残缺方显言尽意犹存的韵味。有谁的世界总是成功？人生多风雨，世事足悲泣！然而，世人总注重结果而忽略了过程。在物欲横流的大千世界，悲观处世者总在抱怨。无能的青年忘记了自己的浅薄，慵懒与堕落，习惯了畏缩不前，习惯了无休止的叹息。

既然不能鲜花簇拥，何不让自己归于平淡，是自己不尽完美，何不奋起直追。

离自己的战火近一点，尽力拼搏，努力追求，找回属于自己的成功。人生的梦想在亘古不变世界里演绎着忧伤与难忘，原始的野性呼唤着我们。古老而凄寂的荒漠上徘徊着驮着皮囊的骆驼，它们永远向着绿洲而疲劳的奔波。正值青春年少的我们，何不用自己的声音去唤醒湮灭的慵懒灵魂呢？

一湾溪流，曲折回转中激起心旷神怡的鸣响；一波巨澜，潮起潮落中隐藏着惊心动魄般的气势。

博观约取，厚积薄发。人生没有失败。
